Creative Education Summit
Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC) presents with commitment the Creative Education Summit 2006. During the Summit, distinguished front-line education practitioners, policy makers/advisors and cultural activists from both Hong Kong and 10 different Asian and European cities are invited to share their practical experience in managing creative education institutions in their distinctive cultural contexts. It is hoped that this sharing can lead to new visions for local, regional and global developments. The 3-day Summit starts with presentations that feature the sharing of human stories / case studies given by 6 education practitioners who have practical experience in setting-up creative schools in different cities on 10 November; on 11 November, the first session will open with a dialogue among policy advisors on challenges in working out creative education and cultural policy in different cities, while the second closed-door session will pave way forward to the set-up of Inter-cultural Creative Education Observatory; on the final day of the Summit on 12 November, experienced overseas creative education practitioners from Europe are invited to conduct creative workshops with local teachers and students. Through the exciting programs mentioned above, the ultimate
goal of the Creative Education Summit is to set up an Inter-cultural
Creative Education Observatory (ICEO). As an advocated partner
of the UNESCO and our regional counterparts, HKICC will
map out strategic development of creative education in the
region through the establishment of the ICEO, which aims
at developing applied strategic research agenda and network
database in creative education. It also carries a mission
to act as a long-term open platform for sustainable global
exchange on creative education.
