Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum (ACCF)
Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2006 Date: 9 November - 12 November 2006 Venue: Drama Theatre, The Hong Kong Academy for Performin Arts (other than specified)
Experiencing Architecture Co-organiser: The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) Visitors to Hong Kong are invariably amazed by the skyline, but for those of us who actually live here, the sea of high rises is just a part of our lives. Working, playing or just daydreaming at home or in the office, do we wonder what it's like to create a building in that skyline, or what it's like to be an architect? Hong Kong has nurtured many successful architects through the years and the "Experiencing Architecture" session of the Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2006 will introduce a selection of young architects to the audience. Edwin Chan of Gehry Partners, Florence Chan of Pelli Clarke Pelli, Pearl Tang of Fosters and Partners, Gary Chang of Edge Design, Daphne Chan of Housing Department, and Stephen Chan of Rocco Design, have drawn much of their insight and inspiration from their home city and will share their experience of studying and working in Hong Kong and overseas. Joining them in the discussion will be the guest speaker, Professor Gustavo da Roza, who graduated and taught at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in the 1950s before emigrating to Canada; and Professor David Lung of HKU, the chairperson of the session.
