On 9 November 2006 from 7pm to 10pm in the evening, the United Nations Inter-Agency Working Group, together with renown international experts working in various fields of the cultural industries will conduct an Open Forum entitled Measuring Creativity, Happiness and Well-Being. During this Open Forum, presentations will be made on a variety of indices which have been developed in the attempt to measure creativity and the impact of the creative economy on our well-being. Included will be presentations on Bhutan's ambitious and visionary attempts to benchmark "Gross National Happiness", Robert Prescott-Allen's "The Structure of a Well-Being Index", data for Partners for Livable Communities Creative City Project; the latest "Happy Planet Index" report from the New Economics Foundation, and Hong Kong's recently completed "Study on Creativity Index." The Open Forum will conclude with commentary on UNESCO action to coordinate these efforts internationally within the framework of the new 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The public will be invited to comment on these efforts and to contribute suggestions for future development.
