Tashi Choden is a research officer at the Centre for Bhutan Studies since July 2002. She has worked across various areas of study including local government elections, community studies, gender, political and economic issues. She has written articles and reports for: Secret Ballots in Rural Heartland – Gup Elections 2002 covering detailed experiences and perceptions of the people during local government elections held with universal adult franchise for the first time in Bhutan; and prepared a consolidated Beijing Plus Ten Status Report for the Four countries under the Sustainable Development Agreement for the government. She has published work on Traditional Forms of Volunteerism in Bhutan; Economic & Political Relations between Bhutan and Neighbouring Countries; Security Problems of Bhutan - Confidence Building Measures; Indo-Bhutan Relations –Recent Trends; and Manifesting the Spirit Within -Understanding the Concept of Civil Society in Bhutan.
Her educational background include a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership from the Asia-Pacific Leadership Program of the East-West Center in Hawaii, USA; a Post Graduate Certificate in Development Management from the Royal Institute of Management in Thimphu, Bhutan; and a Bachelor of Arts in P.P.E. (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) from the International Program at Rangsit University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tashi is currently working on the areas of culture and psychological wellbeing for the Gross National Happiness Index being developed by the Centre for Bhutan Studies.
