An experienced educator, Rebecca Chew was a literature teacher, a specialist inspector for music at the Ministry of Education and the Vice-Principal of Serangoon Junior College, before becoming the Principal of Naval Base Secondary School.
A graduate and associate of the Royal Academy of Music (UK), Rebecca's work for the International Federation for Choral Music was nominated for the UNESCO prize for Bridging Peace and Culture in 1996. In 2000, she was accorded the highest honour of being the first Singaporean to be appointed as the conductor for the inaugural Asian Youth Choir.
In addition to being an accomplished choral music conductor, Rebecca is also a passionate advocate for the arts. Among her other contributions, Rebecca also serves as the National Arts Council Arts Resource Person for Music and Executive Board Member for the Talent Development Fund for Young Artists.
She presently leads the School of the Arts as Principal and is the appointed Chief Executive Officer for the Singapore Arts School Ltd.
