Ms. Ada Ying Kay Wong, JP, practising solicitor, is Chair of the Wan Chai District Council and an elected Councillor for Wan Chai's Broadwood Constituency. She was an elected member of the Urban Council from 1995 to 2000.
Ms Wong is keenly involved in research and advocacy of cultural, education, planning, urban regeneration and local administration policies. She holds many public service positions including membership in the Committee on Economic Development and Economic Cooperation with Mainland of the Commission for Strategic Development, and the Museums Advisory Group of the West Kowloon Cultural District Consultative Committee. She is a council member of three tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, including, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Hong Kong Institute of Education and Shue Yan College.
Apart from her active participation in public service, Ms Wong was a former columnist of Ming Pao Daily for 6 years and is now a columnist of Oriental Daily News and contributes regularly to the South China Morning Post. She also hosts a weekly cultural programme for Commercial Radio.
Ms Wong is the founder and chair of several non-profit educational and cultural NGOs, including the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC), HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, Pegasus Philip Wong Kin Hang Christian Primary School cum Junior Secondary School, Hong Kong Institute of Aesthetic Education, the Millennium Youth Orchestra and Hong Kong Children's Musical Theatre.
Ms Wong received her BA (Hons) from Pomona College, California and her Master of Education (Distinction) from the University of Hong Kong.
