Yu Dan: Lecturer at Beijing Normal University, a tutor for PhD students, and Head of the Television and Media Department, Beijing Normal University. She received the 1996 Beijing Outstanding Teacher Award and Outstanding Teacher Award from Beijing Normal University. She also won the Outstanding Teacher Award from China Baogang Education Fund 2001 and the Award of Diligence as well as the Ten Outstanding Teachers Award from Beijing Normal University in 2001. In 2005, Prof Yu was awarded the First Prize for the National Teaching Achievement Prize of Higher Education from Beijing Normal University. In 2004, she was acclaimed as the Best Ten Artists in Beijing and Best Hundred Television Artists in China. With her focus of study in Broadcast Television and Media, Prof Yu has had a number of her works published, like Image, Brand and Competitiveness and thesis of a total of over 100,000 words published in important academic journals like Chinese Social Sciences, Literature & Art Studies, Modern Communication, etc.

Prof Yu is also a famous television broadcasting organizer and copywriter, having organized 50 television shows including "The Oriental Horizon", "Legal Report", "Art Life", etc. She was also responsible for the co-ordination work for the making of the promo video for the People's Republic of China's bidding for holding the Olympic Games. Moreover, Prof Yu is currently serving as the Chief Consultant of the news and science channels of CCTV and the Chief Planning Consultant of China Beijing TV Station. She received the Best Writing Awards for the Luminaries Award in both 1994 and 1996, and has been a writer for over 20 large-scale television shows like "100 Years of Hong Kong" of CCTV as well as "Zhengda Variety Show" and "China Report", etc.

As a researcher and promoter of classical culture, Prof Yu gave talks on the reading of the "Analects" in the Lecture Room of CCTV for 7 consecutive days during the National Day holiday in 2006. This talk together with the talk about "Zhuangzi" during the Lunar New Year period in 2007 earned her great acclaim from the audience.
