Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Chair Professor in Geotechnical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong
Prof C.F. Lee graduate of University of Hong Kong received his Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario in 1972. He taught at University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto, and then joined Ontario Hydro. In 1994 he was invited to the University of Hong Kong. He is now Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Chair Professor of Geotechnical Engineering.
His repertoire includes numerous journal papers and books. He has served as technical advisor to the Work Bank, the UNDP, the ADB, the IAEA, and the Canadian International Development Agency. His works include feasibility and design reviews of water resources management, hydropower, nuclear power, bridge structures and major infrastructure projects in Mainland China. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is presently the President of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Science.
Prof C.F. Lee's volunteer and community services includes the President of the Fuhui Charitable Foundation; Chairman of the Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture; Chairman of the Harbour-front Enhancement Committee; Chairman of the Veterinary Surgeons Board; Chairman of the Council of the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust; and Director of the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole.
He was a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar in 2005; appointed a Justice-of-the Peace in 2003; and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario in 2006.
