Deputy Director, The Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation, USA
Anthony Calnek is Deputy Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, responsible for communications and publishing throughout the Guggenheim network of museums; and in this capacity, he serves as spokesman for the Foundation and its director, Thomas Krens. Calnek has written extensively on the Guggenheim and its history, including a book entitled The New Yorker Visits the Guggenheim and essays for two exhibition catalogues on the Guggenheim's collection and architecture presented by the Kunst und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bonn, Germany. He is currently working on books concerning the many architectural projects – built and unbuilt – commissioned by the Guggenheim Foundation over the years, and on the 50th anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright building in New York.
Before coming to the Guggenheim, Calnek worked in art publishing, and was the founding Managing Editor of Contemporanea, a contemporary art magazine published in New York and Turin, Italy.
