Rupert Myer is the Chairman of the National Gallery of Australia and a Board Member of the National Gallery of Australia Foundation. He also serves as Chairman of Mission Australia's Youth Strategy and Advocacy Group; Chairman of Kaldor Art Projects; a Board Member of The Felton Bequests' Committee; and as a Director of The Myer Foundation and of Indigenous Enterprise Partnerships.
Myer chaired the landmark Australian Government Inquiry into the Contemporary Visual Arts and Crafts Sector which completed its report in 2002. His previous community activities also include being the Chairman of the NGV Foundation, International Social Service and Work Placement and as a board member of The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and a trustee of The National Gallery of Victoria. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in January, 2005 for service to the arts, and for support to museums and galleries and to the community through a range of philanthropic and service organisations.
