Cultural Critic, Hong Kong
Born in Shanghai and grew up in Hong Kong, Chan Koon Chung is the author of many books in Chinese, including "Hong Kong Trilogy", "My Hong Kong Generation", "Notes of a Hybrid City", "Hong Kong's Unfinished Experiment", "Story of a President" and "Marxism and Literary Criticism", and is the co-author of "Bohemian China".
He founded the City Magazine in Hong Kong in 1976 and served as its publisher till 1998. In the 1980s he was a playwright and a screenwriter before he turned producer of more than a dozen Hong Kong and American movies. He founded and operated a television station, a music publishing house, newspapers, magazines and new media companies in Taiwan and mainland China in the 1990s.
He was a founding member of Hong Kong's environmental group Green Power, organic farm Produce Green, and Film Directors' Guild.
He had lived in Taipei for six years and now lives in Beijing.
