Ms. Goh Ching Lee has been involved in arts development and promotion since joining the then Ministry of Culture in 1984 to her present appointment with the National Arts Council as Senior Director of Performing Arts, and Director of the Singapore Arts Festival (SAF).
Ms. Goh has held several arts portfolios, including policy planning, research and the planning & management of facilities. Her main portfolio has been the development of national and international events in the performing, visual and literary arts. She has also been active in fostering cultural twinning agreements, international cultural exchanges, and the international promotion of Singapore art and artists. As the Festival Director, she launched in 2000 the new edition of the Singapore Arts Festival New Inspiration, and has since infused the Festival with a bold and progressive character. She played an instrumental role in developing Singapore Season, a programme showcasing Singapore's arts and creative capital overseas that was first launched in London in 2005. She also championed the formation of the Association of Asian Performing Arts Festivals and currently serves as its first chairperson.
In 2009, Ms. Goh was made "Officier de l'Orde des Arts et des Lettres" (Arts and Letters Decoration) by the French Minister for Culture, for her contributions to the arts in Singapore and to the promotion of cultural exchange with France. (She was made "Chevalier" of the same order in 2002.)
In 2005, she was bestowed The Public Administration Medal (Silver) at the 2005 National Day Awards.
